JOB CONTEXT :
Handicap International (HI) is operating in Ethiopia since 1986 and has implemented projects in the area of physical rehabilitation, mine risk education, community based rehabilitation, food security, HIV and AIDS, capacity building of local associations of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), GBV, WASH, Health, etc... Our organization is currently working in collaboration with governmental authorities, local and international NGOs and National associations of Persons with Disabilities.
Handicap International projects are currently oriented around 5 fields of intervention:
· Child Protection
· Inclusive education
· Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction
· Emergency response
· Inclusive Employment
Other Projects are waiting for donor approval.
YOUR MISSION:
As Country Operational Framework Project Officer, you have for objective deliverables for mid-September 2017 so as to ensure a presentation and an instruction of the Country Strategy 2018/2020-1 to the ‘Direction des Opérations et des Ressources Techniques’ in Lyon, planned the 1st week of October 2017. You also assist the Ethiopia programme and Project Managers in developing Information/Education/Communication materials.
Under the responsibility of the Programme Director Ethiopia, you assume responsibility for the development of the Operational Strategy document and other related tasks. You also assist project managers in shaping/developing IEC materials.
Moreover, you will be in regular contact with:
· The Programme Director
· The Support Service Coordinator
· Project Managers and Project Officers
· The Logistics team
You will also liaise with the East Africa Desk, DRT and other technical/financial services at HQ which must be consulted for the development of the operational strategy.
In this framework, your main duties are:
· Contribute to the reflection on the operational axes of the Ethiopia Country Strategy 2018-2020
· Take part to the writing of the Country Strategy 2018-2020 with the support of various interlocutors
· Prepare formats of presentation (mission report, power point, etc)
· Write one reference project document, per defined sector of intervention, to be integrated in the annex of the Country Strategy
· Conduct a review of the context of the Somalia Programme (with a focus on Somaliland) and contribute to define operational axes in this country
YOUR PROFILE :
· You hold a degree in humanitarian and/or development / you have training in…
· You have a previous work experience with Handicap International
· You master Word, Excel and PowerPoint software
· You are capable of working in team
· You show outstanding communication skills
· You are reliable and meticulous at work
· You have flexibility, patience and are autonomous at work
· You show a strong interest for social development, handicap and discrimination topics
· You are at ease with the French language (oral and written) and speak fluently English
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE POSITION :
· This position includes occasional movements in the field in Ethiopia.
· The town of Addis Ababa offers several leisure spots like all big African towns. Relationships with locals are good. Expatriate population is very big and social life can be quite rich.
CONDITIONS:
· Startingdate : 1st July 2017
· Lengthof thecontract: 3 months**
· Volunteer status, according to experience :
Volunteering allowances : 1000€ (net)
Perdiem allowances : 578 € (net)
Insurances: health coverage, planning, repatriation, retirement (if senior volunteer).
Paid holiday : 25 days per year
R&R : 1 day per month
Status : this position is unaccompanied
