CCM - Comitato di Collaborazione Medica is an INGO founded in 1968 in Italy and specialized in the health sector. Its core mission is contributing to the development processes which safeguard and promote the right to health, by acting with an integrated approach on the health needs and by influencing the social-economical determinants. CCM aims at improving health conditions of the population in low-income countries and intervenes through projects of international cooperation, education to the world citizenship, advocacy activities and interventions of health promotion in the context of migration processes. CCM cooperates with the local communities and authorities to strengthen and develop the health systems, to improve accessibility to and the quality of prevention and health care services. CCM cooperates with local organizations and promotes an integrated approach to the health by working directly with other local and international organizations in cross-cutting sectors which help the complete well-being of the individual.

CCM has been continuously in South Sudan since 1983, with main focus on Warrap and Lakes States. In the country, CCM is MoH partner in supporting the development of integrated health and nutrition service delivery, to meet MoH priority targets according to the national health strategies and official guidelines.

In Warrap State, CCM has recently been awarded by the HPF for the management of the Marial Lou County Hospital in Tonj Northto ensure*secondary health care service delivery with a particular focus on reproductive health and emergency intervention**.*

CLOSING DATE:30th August 2015

DUTY STATION:Marial Lou Hospital (Tonj North County, Warrap State – South Sudan)

CONTRACT LENGTH: 6 months (possible extension)

STARTING DATE:October 2015

Main Responsibilities

The Matron is a key role within CCM Marial Lou Hospital project. Successful candidate is expected to develop and improve the role according to the Health Ministry’s guidelines. She/he will be part of a dynamic secondary health care team.

· She/he will be responsible for providing technical support to the hospital service provision

· Efficient preventive and curative service at Marial Lou Hospital, in accord with CCM implemented projects work-plans, financial availabilities and RoSS-MoH guidelines and protocols

· Facilitate the capacity building of local institutions (CHD) and local health staff.

· Collaborate with CCM project team for time-effective implementation of project activities.

Main Responsibility

  • Provides technical support to the hospital service provision to ensure a proper standardized nursing procedure application and a proper patients‘ management
  • Identifies Nurse Aids gaps in skills/knowledge, suggesting appropriate trainings or to recruit health workers
  • Provides staff members’ tasks supervision and training regarding common nursing procedures; including taking vital signs and filling a medication cardex to all nursing staff
  • Prepares monthly duty roster for nurses and support staff as well
  • Assists national medical staff in preparation of patients and other medical supplies ready for ward round and participate actively in the process with the doctor or clinicians.
  • Driving the infection prevention and control agenda and ensure best practices are applied
  • Sets up equipment, store and move supplies, and properly assist with some procedures whenever necessary
  • Ensures correct usage of standardized drug treatment protocol and proper management of all medical materials and equipment at the facility.
  • Provides essential quality nursing care to all patients at OPD and the wards -ensuring all patients receive their treatment at the right time, right dose and through the right route.
  • Under guidance of the Medical coordinator, maintains and supervises usage/filling of the data collection tools to ensure proper monitoring and evaluation of the services provided.
  • Assists the Medical coordinator to develop project activities, with emphasis on response to perceived needs as observed within the beneficiary.
  • Participates actively in inter-facility and related forums on behalf of the Medical coordinator.
  • Works with Medical Coordinator to provide input for proposals, reports, assessments, and implementation in consultation with the deputy country representative
  • Performs any other duty as assigned by the supervisor

Profile Requirements

Qualification

  • Diploma/Certificate in Comprehensive Nursing from a recognized institution
  • Certificate of practice registration with a recognized professional body

Main Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years working experience in similar position of reporting and responsibility, preferably with an NGO
  • Basic knowledge of Anaesthesia
  • Proficiency in English Language-MUST
  • Energetic, independent and self-motivated to work in resource limited and harsh environment
  • Proven leadership and teamwork skills
  • Creative planning and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with data collection and analysis
  • High flexibility with sensitivity to cultural settings
  • Computer knowledge and skills
  • Proven history of job stability Knowledge of Juba Arabic or Dinka language is an added advantage
