World Vision South Sudan is now seeking for a qualified and dynamic Individual (Man or Woman) who is willing to share in our vision and promise to Children, to join us as Food Security Project Manager Consultant.

The position is based in Northern Bhar Ghazal in Malulkom, South Sudan.

Purpose of the Consultancy:

The Food Security and Livelihoods project manager is responsible for providing operational guidance in World Vision’s FSL projects in the Juba region. The project manager will be the overall in charge of the attainment of set project objectives and outputs in coordination with the area team leader and grants acquisition team as well as government line ministries. The position involves supervising project staff including assigning those daily tasks. To be the technical project lead, conduct and coordinate needs assessments, progress reporting as well as coordinating with local partners for better impact.

Major Roles and Responsibilities of the Food Security Project Manager

  • To implement the food security and livelihood projects/interventions integrating this with the line government departments at county and other World Vision projects in the same locations within donor and World Vision policies
  • To plan and follow up project activities with the team such as field assessments, market price monitoring, and distribution of livelihood inputs (agricultural seeds & tools), implementation of trainings for food production and development for livelihood activities
  • Break down the annual operational plans into weekly, monthly and quarterly implementation plans to enhance proper implementation of the project by all project staff.
  • Ensure that project activities and outputs are attained within set timelines as per the DIP.
  • Ensure high quality reports are timely produced and submitted within donor requirements/guidelines.
  • To technically mentor and supervise Food security and Assistant food Security Officers working under his supervision and carry out Staff performance
  • Establish transparent relationships with all partners including identification of community priorities, concerns and managing expectations in regards to FSL interventions.
  • Ensure that procurement, development and distribution of materials and equipment are timely and according to procedures
  • To supervise and train the FSL project Officers /assistants on efficient planning, coordination, implementation and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of the project activities
  • Responsible for monitoring the impact of the project, support decision making and promote learning through documentation of best practices and follow up of necessary adjustment (Change management).

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

  • Degree in Agriculture (Crop and Livestock) or related field is required.
  • Certificate course in project management is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in food security coordination or management a non-profit organization.
  • Prior experience with implementation of an ANCP or DFAT a requirement.
  • Experience in market linkages and value chains a must.
  • Willingness to in a challenging context and fragile context.
  • The candidate must be a team player.
  • Experience working in a humanitarian setting / fragile context an advantage.
  • The candidate must have good interpersonal skills, be flexible and solutions-oriented, and demonstrate strong oral / written English communication skills.
