Expert for financial administration

in Juba, South Sudan

The position is to be filled immediately and is initially scheduled to end on 31 December 2016, with a prospect of a contract renewal. You will be working in Juba.

Objective and responsibilities of the position

As Expert for financial administration, you are responsible for the financial administration of projects at the project location in Juba. You ensure that the measures are carried out in accordance with the directives of co-financers and Welthungerhilfe.

Your most important duties include:

  • Monitoring and ensuring orderly financial and material planning (bank transactions, accounting, budget control, equipment)

  • Providing instructions and advisory services to national administration staff

  • Supporting the Head of Project with the preparation of project/co-financing budgets with regard to formal correctness

  • Preparation of final financial reports and financial statements pursuant to the contractual specifications of the third-party donors of funds

Your qualifications include:

  • A university degree or polytechnic degree or business training with additional special knowledge in e.g. accounting and controlling

  • Several years of project-relevant experience in the administration of co-financed projects of international (aid) organisations, preferably in this region as well as very good analytical skills for assessing the humanitarian and security-relevant situation

  • Coordination and organisational skills - even under a high workload

  • excellent ability to work under pressure, both on a physical and psychological level, and willingness to go on duty trips into regions with volatile local conditions

  • EDP knowledge (knowledge of financial software is considered an asset)

  • A very good knowledge of both spoken and written English; a knowledge of German would be an asset
