We are looking for our delegation in South Sudan for a

Field Coordinator

Position Start Date: 14th of March 2016
Duration: 10 months
Location: Boma – South Sudan
Terre des hommes does not set closing dates for this position; recruitment is on-going until the position is filled

Contractual conditions:
Swiss salaried contract 3650 Chf < > 4800 Chf net salary/month according to experience x 13. Annual Leave: 25 days per year. Contract includes also local accommodation and transportation, health and repatriation insurance, return flight.

Context :
Terre des hommes Foundation (Tdh) is the leading Swiss NGO focusing on child rights. It is active in more than 30 countries with development and emergency projects. Tdh focuses its action on the two following areas of intervention: health and protection of particularly vulnerable children. Modern management and communication tools ensure the quality of Tdh’s projects. The Foundation constantly aims to improve its services.

Main responsibilities :
With the support and under the supervision of the Country Delegate in Juba, responsible of the representation, supervision of the program, administration, security and logistic. He is liaising and coordinating with the Program coordinators, Finance and admin manager and Logistic coordinator in Juba in order to ensure the compliance with the agreed program orientation and agreed rules and procedures.

The incumbent commits to observe discretion on any information related to the organization functioning.
The incumbent will conduct his or her duties in respect of the Charter of Terre des hommes (Tdh) and Tdh Child Protection Policy. Tdh intervenes without any affiliation for politics, religion or financial profit. The incumbent will direct his or her activities and engagements without preoccupation of political, racial or religious affiliation. The incumbent assures the moral protection of the name of Tdh and defends in all circumstances the interests of the movement.

Fonction details :
• She/he is in charge of the development of the intervention strategy and ensures the smooth running of the project in his/her zone/the country of assignment in line with Tdh policies (strategic plan, theme, way of working) and national intervention strategies in order to achieve the results expected within the framework of the project(s): S/he ensures the planning, execution, monitoring and financial management of the project and the human resources
• S/he is responsible for supervising and training his/her field teams
• S/he ensures decisions and actions are taken in his/her area of intervention and deals with them independently on a daily basis in consultation with the sector coordinator and the Country Representative depending on the country (if no sector coordinator, in consultation with technical advisor) headquarters (DI or Thematic Advisor))
• S/he ensures that the outcomes of the project(s) s/he is in charge of are achieved.
• S/he also acts as the link / the synergy between the project for which s/he is authorised and the other projects developed within the delegation
• S/he builds up the expertise in his/her field of intervention
If a sector coordinator is in office in his/her intervention country, s/he works very closely and in consultation with the coordinator and his/her counterpart project manager in another zone
• S/he collaborates and coordinates with the DI (for emergencies) and the thematic advisors at headquarters to develop and validate the thematic strategy in line with the Tdh strategic commitments, and conduct advocacy and strategic capitalisation actions
• S/he collaborates with the other Tdh sectors

Profile :
• University degree in development, international relations or a related field, master’s degree preferred
• Good knowledge of humanitarian environment (NGO, UN, Donors…);
• 3-5 years of oversees experience in program management
• Substantial management experience as well as strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Experience in and report preparation and writing
• Fluent written and spoken English; Ability to read, to analyse, and interpret technical procedures, or governmental regulations
• Ability to live and work in a harsh and isolated environment, to handle high pressure environment, and to be flexible
• Excellent interpersonal skills (incl. communication and representation), mature and autonomous, proactive

Child protection policy:
• To commit to respect Tdh Risk Management Policies including: Child Protection Policy, Safety and Security Policy and Anti-Fraud/Corruption Policy, Whistle Blowing Policy
• To commit to ensure the best implementation possible of the Tdh Risk Management Policies in South Sudan
• To commit to inform supervisors and to deal with any cases, allegations, or possibility of transgression, even potential, of the Tdh Risk Management Policies
