POSITION IN THE ORGANIZATION
The Nutrition Officers hierarchically reports to the Commodity Manager
The Nutrition Officer manages a team of between 2-3 employees
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Manage, organize and support the nutrition aspect of the program and ensure that the Nutrition program activities are running in line with national and international humanitarian standards and donor guidelines.
ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Result #1: Scaling up nutrition impact in
- Increase the impact of nutrition interventions and manage acute malnutrition in line with internationally accepted standards and country guidelines.
- Provide support and supervision to staff implementing nutrition programmes in the field and mentor them.
- In liaison with other technical teams assist in the development of detailed Nutrition program plans for the designated program area.
Key Result #2: Provide Technical Nutrition Support to the relevant stakeholders
Provide technical support and supervision to (nutrition) field staffs implementing nutrition program in the designed areas.
Provide support to the Nutrition Assistants in conducting training on the job for facility and community Nutrition workers.
Ensure establishment and strengthening of nutrition monitoring and support harmonization here of between stake holders.
Organize and Participate in nutrition surveys
Key Result #4- Reports
Ensure timely and accurate collection and analysis of data from field/health facilities and maintain a nutrition data base for the program.
Ensure timely and accurate reporting of nutrition activities by all the health facilities and other documentation to the project management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent inter personal relationship
- Highly motivated, self starter able to work on own initiative in difficult conditions
- Proficiency in computer skills
- Attention to details and high level of accuracy
- Have knowledge of SMART nutrition survey methodology
- Demonstrate strong knowledge in management of acute malnutrition.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelors in Nutrition or related field plus 2-3 years’ experience in a related area and management of acute malnutrition in related Field.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Proficiency in spoken and written English,
Arabic and the knowledge of the county’s local language is added advantage.
