PSI South Sudan seeks to recruit a qualified, dynamic candidate for the position of a Nutrition Coordinator for the Nutrition (CMAM/SAM without complication) Program in Wau. Within the framework of this program, PSI partners with a number of primary health facilities and community Nutrition volunteers, focusing on expanding access to basic healthcare and treatment of the episodes of malaria, diarrhea, pneumonia and Malnutrition in children under five years old.
The program is comprised of the four main components that include behavior change communication (BCC); management of supply chain for treatment of malaria, pneumonia, diarrhea and Malnutrition (CMAM/SAM) specifically in children under 5 years old; establishment and strengthening of the networks of community-based distributors and Community Nutrition Volunteers (CBDs/CNVs) in rural areas; and strengthening of the national health management information systems (HMIS) from the grass-roots levels of CBDs/CNVs networks to health facilities OTPs and County Health Departments (CHDs). The ICCM program has successfully started in Wau, Jur River, Yei, Morobo Lainya, and Mundri counties of Western Bahr el Ghazal, Central and Western Equatoria and the nutrition program have established 10 operational OTP sites in Wau County. The Nutrition program is being integrated into the ICCM program to maximize access to nutrition services.
The Nutrition Coordinator will be responsible for supporting day-to-day operations of program activities related to the OTP sites in Wau.
JOB PURPOSE
The role of the Nutrition Coordinator is to support all Nutrition activities and provide support to Nutrition Program Manager three rural payams in Wau County. He/she will particularly work with the Nutrition Manager, Malaria, Child Survival Technical Adviser and the ICCM/M&E Coordinator in Wau. In addition, support ICCM/Nutrition trainings, workshops at the counties and Communities we work with.
Key Responsibilities
· To provide overall nutrition programmatic support to the nutrition Manager on daily management of Out Patient Therapeutic (OTP) sites
· Supervise the nutrition officers to ensure the assessment, anthropometric measurement of CMAM/SAM cases in children under five years are conducted according to the South Sudan guidelines
· Monitor, analyze and Participate in writing weekly, monthly and quarterly reports to provide Nutrition (CMAM) updates and progress
· Prepare and submit timely progress report on CMAM/SAM activities to the nutrition Manager
· Supervise and manage Nutrition Officers to ensure effective and efficient implementation of CMAM/SAM programme in operation areas.
· Represent PSI in Nutrition meetings with partners/all stake holders and maintain excellent rapport with the nutrition Department at the state ministry of health (Wau, WBeG)
· Solely Responsible for requisition of nutritional foods and non-food items/products and ensure complete accountability of all supplies
· Responsible for the capacity building of the nutrition staff in the Wau field office
· Monitoring the project implementation to ensure quality care and targets achievements
· Do any additional task assigned by the Nutrition Manager or Child as needed
Essential requirements
· He/she should be a holder of Degree in Nutrition & food technology, Public Health or advance Diploma in comprehensive Nursing.
· He/she should be a South Sudanese National,
· He/she should be fluent in Both English and Local Arabic, knowledge of classical Arabic is an added advantage.
· He/she should at least have 2-3 years’ Experience in working within South Sudan or government in Nutrition related programme.
· He/she should have Experience in community facilitation and mobilisation
· He/she should have excellent communication skills and the ability to cooperate with others as part of the team.
· He/she should be willing to work independently through line management under limited/distance sup**ervision.**
