The Lutheran World Federation, Department for World Service (LWF/DWS) is an international humanitarian and development agency in South Sudan since 1998. Currently, LWF is operating in Jonglei, Unity, Upper Nile States with a head office in Juba. LWF South Sudan seeks to recruit suitable candidate for the following position.

Position Project Officers, Food Security and Livelihoods

Jonglei/ Twic East , and Duk

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the guidance and direction of the Livelihoods Coordinator, Project Officer, Food Security and Livelihoods substantially contribute to the effective management of LWF Food Security and Livelihoods Projects. She/he will ensure that the implementation of Food Security and Livelihoods activities are implemented and reported in accordance with established LWF DWS Sudan Program guidelines and procedures.

Reporting and Communication lines

The Projects Officer 9s), Food Security and Livelihoods reports to Livelihoods Coordinator or the person designated by him/her. He/she shall work in close collaboration with the PMEO, Finance Officer, Log/Admin Officer and sector Project Officers and Area Coordinator.

Specific Task:

· Executing (Planning, implementing, coordinating, reporting, and monitoring/Evaluation) of Food Security and Livelihoods Projects

· Provide technical support ( on Agriculture and livelihoods) and coordinate with respective coordinator and assistants on project activities implementation

· Organize and conduct technical trainings( in Agriculture, Income Generation , Fishing, and similar Trainings), needs assessments that are appropriate to the project

· Lead capacity building of beneficiaries through training and awareness

· Staff Management, manage staff under her/his supervision

· Project Budget planning and management

· Networking, Learning and Representation: Participate and represent LWF at coordination meetings and share information of LWF and lesson learnt

· Advocate with government, donors, etc. on all issues relating to Food Security and Livelihoods

· Follow up project activities and monitor project impact and provide additional training where necessary

  • Perform any other functions that may be assigned by the immediate supervisor

Minimum Qualifications and Personal Specification:

  • Diploma in Agriculture, and any relevant field and Minimum 3 years’ experience in implementing Food security (focus on agriculture ) and livelihoods or similar activities in development and emergency context in the NGO settings
  • Degree in Agriculture or related Field and Minimum one year experience in implementing Food security (focus on agriculture ) and livelihoods or similar activities in development and emergency context in the NGO settings
  • Experience in Horticulture, Agronomy , fishing and Village Saving Association is Desired
  • Experience in project cycle management is an asset
  • Demonstrated understanding of community engagement/participatory planning techniques.
  • Good facilitation and listening skills
  • Experience is cash based intervention
  • Ability to meet deadlines and if necessary work for long hours when deadlines are tight
  • Excellent in written and spoken English.
  • Computer literacy (Ms Word, Ms Excel and Ms PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work well in a diverse team
  • Ability to work in remote sites
  • Willingness to learn and relocate when necessary
