The Lutheran World Federation, Department for World Service (LWF/DWS) is an international humanitarian and development agency in South Sudan since 1998. Currently, LWF is operating in Jonglei, Unity, and Upper Nile States with a head office in Juba. LWF South Sudan seeks to recruit suitable candidate for the following position.
Position: Assistant Project Officer, Food Security and Livelihood.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the guidance and direction of the Project Officer, Food Security and Livelihood, The Assistant Project officer, Food Security and Livelihood (Ass. FSL) substantially contributes to the effective management of LWF Food Security and Livelihoods Projects. She/he will ensure that the implementation of the Food Security and Livelihoods activities are implemented and reported in accordance with established LWF DWS Sudan Program guidelines and procedures.
Specific task:
· Link between LWF and the community
· Organize and conduct community level trainings on various aspects of Food Security and Livelihoods such as agriculture, income generation, fishing, and VSLA concepts as may emerge from time to time
· Carry out community mobilization as the need arises.
· Undertake field follow ups to give technical support to the food security and livelihoods target beneficiaries
· Follow-up on all farmers, fisheries, IGA groups, VSLA groups beneficiaries to ensure they are practicing what they have been trained on.
· Keep the Payam Administrators informed of LWF/DWS activities in the Payams, and Bomas.
· Participate in food security and livelihoods assessments and baselines as the need arises
· Project planning, monitoring and reporting purposes in the prescribe formats.
· Prepare weekly and monthly work plans and submit them to the immediate supervisor
· Prepare and submit weekly and monthly reports based on the weekly and monthly work plans
· Perform any other functions that may be assigned by the immediate supervisor
Minimum Qualifications and Personal Specification:
· Diploma in Agriculture, Development Studies, Rural development, Sociology and/or any relevant field and Minimum of 3 years’ experience in implementing Food Security and Livelihoods or similar activities in development and/or emergency context in the NGO settings
· Certificate (Academic) in Agriculture, Development Studies, Rural development, Sociology and/or any relevant field and Minimum of 5 years’ experience in implementing, Food Security and Livelihoods or similar activities in development and/or emergency context in the NGO settings
· Demonstrate understanding of community engagement/participatory planning techniques
· Good facilitation and listening skills
· Ability to meet deadlines and if necessary work for long hours when deadlines are tight
· Excellent in written and spoken English
· Knowledge of local language/ or Juba Arabic will be an added advantage
· Computer literacy (Ms Word, Ms Excel and Ms PowerPoint).
· Ability to work well in a diverse team of different backgrounds.
· Willingness to learn and relocate when necessary.
